custom framing

Our Process

DESIGN

During this step, our designers will work with you on the styling and preservation of your piece. We will work to meet both your visual needs and your budgetary needs. Lots of times we will work up multiple design options and let you choose which works best for you.

Though we take appointments, we always welcome our walk-in customers.

1

IMPLEMENTATION

This is where the hard work begins! Your piece will be mounted, matted, covered, protected and hardware added all while paying attention to each and every detail. As the customer, you will probably never see the details that are between the glass and the backing, but those are the steps that will ensure that your piece can be enjoyed for years to come. We don’t skip (or skimp) on processes just because they are hidden behind the dustcover (interesting fact: that’s the official term for the backing on your framing. Why? Because it keeps the dust out!).

THE REVEAL

Finally, it’s time for pickup and reveal. We will contact you when your framing is ready for pickup. Come at your convenience during our normal working hours. At this time you finally get to see the final product. We love to see the smiles that the reveal brings, and sometimes even tears. Don’t worry, we keep tissues handy!

Methods & Materials

At Robins On Roan, LLC we use archival techniques and conservation grade materials.  Our goal is to preserve the integrity of your piece all while framing it in a manner that will allow it to be enjoyed for years, or decades, to come.  Whether it’s a priceless piece of art, or your pre-schoolers piece of art, it will be treated with the utmost care.  Our designers will work with you to ensure that your framing enhances and supports your piece of art in a manner that’s fitting to both the style of your piece and the style of your home.

All our matting and backing materials are acid free, which will prevent discoloration due to age.  All our glass is museum grade, with coatings that prevent UV fading up to 99% and can be upgraded to also reduce (almost eliminate) glare.
